At first glance, this copper floor looks like beautiful antique tile. But upon closer inspection, it's actually made of 13,000 Lincoln-faced coins. An incredible feat, given that most people don't have the patience to sort through their change jar, let alone thousands of pennies.

A DIYer who goes by the Imgur handle TonyaTooners shared the project on Reddit and Imgur last week. Not surprisingly, the posts have garnered hundreds of comments and nearly a million views.

Tooners shared that the flooring makeover took two months to complete and cost roughly $350 for materials including three $50 bags of pennies from the bank, 10 bottles of Elmer's glue, grout, wood filler, and epoxy. She began by sorting the coins into light versus dark. She measured the floor to find the exact center point of the room and drew two lines through it to form an axis. She then started with one diamond of pennies in the center and continued the pattern from there.

"[I] found a pattern I liked along the edge and then started working towards a corner. Luckily, there was a gap between the molding and floor so I could run the pennies under the molding to complete the edges. This was stupid hard though because the gap was only about [half an inch]. Had to use my trusty ruler to poke the pennies around under the gap," Tooners wrote.

She alternated between placing pennies heads or tails side up and made sure they were all facing the same direction. Once the pattern was complete and the floor covered, Tooners used unsanded grout in between the copper pieces. After that dried, she sealed the floor with a layer of epoxy.

Her attention to detail paid off. The results are stunning:
