With Fixer Upper ending after Season 5, things certainly are changing over at HGTV. Although it hurts to say goodbye to good old Chip and Joanna Gaines, other exciting shows starring talented, charismatic hosts are set to return to your TV screens this season. In a new press release, the network announced which shows are being renewed — and which pilots have been picked up for a full first season.
"We're keeping our focus squarely on developing the kind of content that attracts new viewers and encourages them to sample the programming on our networks," John Feld, senior vice president of programming at HGTV, DIY Network, and Great American Country, said in the release.
"Even as consumers opt to view content on non-linear platforms, Restored By the Fords and Home Town are hitting the mark as HGTV's newest ratings successes," he continued. "The HGTV pipeline is solid as we move into the next quarter and beyond with dozens more new pilots and talent in development."

Home Town has been renewed for Season 3
Erin and Ben Napier's passion for revitalizing their hometown of Laurel, Mississippi, through the preservation of historic homes seems to have struck a chord. Their high ratings (the series maintains the number-three spot for its time slot among upscale viewers aged 25 to 54) earned the designer and woodworker couple another go.
"We miss our TV family when the circus leaves at the end of each season and we're excited to get back to work with them again," Erin tells CountryLiving.com. "It's like we get to go back to summer camp for the 4th summer in a row when you count making the pilot episode in 2014. The new season could bring a few more episodes than we've done in the past and some particularly special homes we would be proud to restore."
As for whether or not the HGTV hosts' new baby, Helen, will make an appearance? "We want to keep Helen's life as normal as possible and she's still so little, so her appearances on a construction site would probably be few and far between," Erin says. "I told myself I wouldn't share many photos of her to keep her life private, but she'll make the sweetest expression sometimes, or she and Ben will have this sweet moment and I can't stop myself from sharing it. Must do better!"
Restored By the Fords is getting a Season 2
After pulling in a January ratings increase of 26 percent above the network's prime average for people aged 25 to 54, brother-sister team Steve and Leanne Ford will be back in 2018 with more of their refreshingly unique projects in the Pittsburgh area.
Current favorites will continue...
That includes Good Bones, My Lottery Dream Home, Flip or Flop Vegas, and Flip or Flop Atlanta.
... and five new renovation shows are premiering.
- Best House on the Block: After a successful pilot, husband and wife David and Lauren Liess's show based in the Virginia-Washington, D.C. metro area is getting a season. Of what to expect, Lauren tells us: "Each home is personally designed for the people living in it, and so far, all of them seem to have fairly different styles and taste, so I think it will be fun to see how the clients' personalities and styles drive the vibe of their homes."
- Hidden Potential: Builder-designer Jasmine Roth customizes suburban homes in Southern California.
- Philly Revival: Acting as real-estate agent, contractor, and designer, the star of this new series set in Philadelphia, Rachel Street, is a triple threat to watch.
- Almost Home: Historic home renovations in Bentonville, Arkansas, are entrusted to duo Dave and Jenny Marrs.
- Saving Galveston: And in Texas, Ashley and Michael Cordray also specialize in historic houses.
Plus, prepare for a whole lot more Property Brothers
The Wrap reports that Jonathan Scott and Drew Scott have signed a new multi-year deal with HGTV. In addition to their existing shows, Property Brothers, Property Brothers: Buying & Selling, Brother vs. Brother, and Property Brothers at Home, the twins are reportedly creating another show for Scripps.
